  1. Q1) I both do and don't feel sorry for Mathilde because she did a good thing by replacing her friend's necklace, but she also deserved to do all of the housework because all she did was complain when she had a maid.
Q4) I believe that the theme of the story is to be grateful for what you have when you have it because you never know when you'll lose it.

  2. Q1) I feel sorry and not sorry for her , not sorry because she shouldn't act like a spoil princess that gets everything she wants even though she and her husband were paupers, she still complains that about every little thing from not having a dress to not having expensive jewelry and if she just let her husband buy some cheap beautiful flowers instead of going to friend to borrow her jewelry it wouldn't been vanish from her neck , and I feel sorry for her because atleast she was caring enough to buy her childhood friend another necklace and I think she realize her real personality and she accept it and she paid the price by doing all of the work because since she had a maid she was still complaining.

Q4) I think the theme of the story is don't let society get in your into your relationship with your partner and friend and be grateful for what you got and don't complain

    2. I feel as if she should've came out and told her friend about the necalace sooner then going through all of that trouble. Mathilde just needed a rude awakening but I do agree with why you do not feel bad for her.

    3. I agree with what you say because she was spoil and pretty much get everything she wanted because her husband was so loving, caring and he try to give her anything that he could ever give her. Last I agree that most of the story is about being grateful for what have because you just might lose it all because of one little thing.

  3. Q1.)Do you feel sorry for Mathilde? Give evidence and explain your answer.
A1.)I do &don’t feel sorry for Mathilde for two reasons:1.she had a problem 2.she was stuck up. The first reason I do feel sorry is because she had problems. The problem that Mathilde had was man versus self. In the story it shows how when she returned the necklace, she had issues in her mind about what she would say. The first reason why I don’t feel sorry for mathilde is because she was stuck up. In the story plot it shows how when her husband came home with an invitation to a ball she didn’t want to go.

Q4.) What do you think is the theme or main point of the story.
A1.)I think the main point of the story is be grateful for what you have, Be careful what you wish for, Be thankful for what you have.

  4. Question #1. No, I don't feel sorry for Mathilde. She was a selfish and inconsiderate. Her husband did whatever he could for he and she still didn't care. She was egoistic. She didn't even want to go somewhere she was invited.

Question #2. I think that phrase means that life changes all the time, can you handle it? And sometimes you have to adapt.

  5. Question #1.

No I do not feel bad for Mathilde. She was unappreciative and didn't realize the things she had until things had gotten worst for her. She wanted to be like a princess so bad, but when she had the opportunity to go to a fancy party for rich people, she wanted to act selfish.

    Question 4.

I believe the theme of the story Is basically saying that even if you don't have all of the things you want, appreciate the things you do have and never take things or people for granted.

    1. I totally agree with everything you said. Mathilde should of opened her eyes and thought of all the other horrible conditions that she could of been in ,instead of worrying about what she doesn't have. To be completely honest I think every human has had a time frame or period that we forget to appreciate our blessings and the people that care for us , but we just pay attention more to the bad things in our lives instead of all the good that came to us. Sometimes it takes a horrible mistake to learn and grow.

    2. I Agree with you Aarianna, Mathilde had a loving husband and yet she still was never happy. She was to wrapped up in a fantasy instead of paying attention to reality. Mathilde didn't even go and search for the necklace she had lost. The story "the necklace" is a perfect example of people taking what they have for granted.

    3. I agree with Breanna completely. Mathilde had a life others dream about. But here greed and selfishness blinded her from that. She truly was taking everything for granted.

  6. Q1.) I absolutely do not feel sorry for Mathilde. I don't feel sorry for her because she didn't appreciate what her husband did for her. He worked everyday late making sure that he was able to provide for her and himself , trying to keep her happy and tried to make her feel special and loved. I mean if someone was working hard to try to give you everything that you want, plus working hard to provide for you and himself, who wouldn't feel loved or special? I would return the favor and help him. Not also to mention she was at home doing nothing just living off his profit and hard work. Even though she didn't work she could of showed him that she appreciate his hard work and love by making sure food was cooked for him everyday, clean the house , give a hug and kiss and tell him that she acknowledge his hard work, there's plenty of ways to show that she appreciated and love him. She also showed disrespect to him when she had lost the necklace her husband was the one that went out late to search for it so they wouldn't have a bad reputation while she was at home , also he had work in a couple of hours but he wanted to make her happy and stayed at the ball late.

Q4.) I think the theme of the story of the necklace is to appreciate what you have and , and to always tell the truth. I strongly argue that this is the theme of the story because the night of the ball Mathilde was trying to be fancy and wanted to fool everyone that she was she rich. To add to her appearance she borrowed her friend that she went to school with necklace, her friend had been really wealthy. As Mathilde just got home from the ball admiring the rich look she realized that she was missing part of her outfit which was the necklace. Mathildes husband had told her to lie to her friend that that were getting it washed and fixed. They worked hard for ten years to buy a necklace that looked like it. One day when Mathilde seen her friend shopping she told her friend that they had lost the other one but replaced it with that. Her friend asked her how much the had paid for it ,when Mathilde had told her friend she had laughed and told her that she only paid four-hundred for it when they paid way much more .Her friend was surprised that she had the real necklace. If they would have told her the truth in the begging they wouldn't had have to work that hard or change there home to an attic.

    1. Yes, I agree with you. She deserves what happened at the end of the story because she was very ungrateful and dishonest. She should have just told her friend the truth and maybe she wouldn't be very poor.

    2. I agree with Calviana, she still wasn't happy at the end. Even though her husband gave her more than he had. She shouldve told the truth;in the end there would've been less drama. Who knows she might even had been happier

  7. Q1) I Do not feel sorry for Mathilde because she was ungrateful. She had a husband who would go above and beyond for her and she still was never satisfied. In the story when she lost the necklace he went out searching for it. Even though he had to go to work in a couple of hours he still went out. All that time she spent searching for the finer things she missed out on building a stronger bond with her husband. Which leaves me to not feel bad for her. Mathilde didn’t have what she wanted but she had more than others.

Q2) The main point or theme of the story “The necklace” is to not take what you have for granted. Be happy with what you have. Even though some things may seem bad it could be a lot worse. Appreciate the things you have and the people that are in your life.

Q1: Do I feel sorry for Mathlide? No I do not feel sorry for Mathilde because she was very ungrateful for what she had. She had a amazing husband who cared for her and he did everything in his power to make her happy. He even got her a invitation to a fancy party with the rich people. He thought she would love to go but instead when he brought the invitation home she freaked out. Instead of being grateful that he thought of her she got angry because she didn’t have anything to wear. She was being very selfish and she only thinks of herself. I feel as though she learned her lesson.
Q4: What was the main point of the story? The main point was to be grateful for what you have.

    1. I agree with you Calviana about Mathilde being very ungrateful, I also liked how you described events that led up to her selfish ways to explain your answer. I also agree when you said she was being very selfish and she only thinks of herself.

  9. Q1) No and yes I feel sorry for Mathilde, I don’t feel sorry for Mathilde because she brought this upon herself. She had a husband that was willing to go through hell just to satisfy her. Even though she didn’t work she could of showed him that she appreciate his hard work and loved him. I also feel sorry for her because even though it was her fought that the necklace had gone missing. She had to give up on her life and work to pay off a fake necklace that cost less than what they expected.
Q2) I feel that main point of the theme is don’t be ungrateful towards life, be thankful for what you have. Appreciate the things you have because you will never know when it will be taken away or lose it.

Question #1: No I do not feel sorry for Mathilde. She got what she deserve; if she never would've lied about losing the necklace she would've found out it was a fake. Therefore she wouldn't have had to pay for a new real diamond necklace.

Question #4: I believe this story has two themes. Number one always tell the truth because in the story Mathilde lies to cover up what has happened and later pays the price. Number two is never try to be someone you are not. Even in the beginning of the story Mathilde acts wealthier than she is, this later on becomes a problem when trying to replace the necklaces. All because she didn't want to look foolish but in the end she did anyways.

  11. Q#1) No, because she get what she wanted. The reason why I say that is she was very ungrateful with what she already had. Mathilde was neither poor nor rich, she even had a little servant girl to help her around the house, and her husband had a pretty good job.

Q#2) It mean that she didn't really learn from what happened that night at the party when she lost the necklace because she ask herself what would happened if she would have never lost it. Instead of asking herself what would have happened if she would have never borrowed them in the first place. In the second line she says that how easy it is for life to change so easily and how one little thing can make or break you or just ruin your life.

  13. 1.) Do i feel sorry for Mathilde? I can argue both ways. I can relate to her because it's moments in everyone's life when you are ungrateful and when things dont go the way you believe it could have. However, Mathilde dragged her husband into the situation even though it wasn't his fault so i believe she deserved every bit of labor she went through.

4.) I believe the main idea of the story is that "karma comes around." Mathilde was unappreciative of what she had so by some fate it was taken away from here. However it made her a better person.
